Post by: Davidinhartford on February 16, 2011, 08:26:41 AM
Not my car, just a lead.   Spotted this morning on Ebay.    Item # 280629598028

I have documented alot of Cadillac wagons, but this is the first time I've seen this one around.    It is a D'Elegance Fleetwood Brougham.
Needs some TLC, but these are rare as hens teeth.

Jerry,   That is not my car, so I don't know who the coachbuilder is.    It doesn't look like the ones Phaeton Coach was making.

Do you have any photos of your 79 you sold?   What color was it?

Dave

I saw one like that in my area not too long ago.  It had bad paint and some rust starting.

I assume that the angle on the rear door windows and rear quarter are because they started with a regular sedan?

I would also imagine the rear seats dont fold like the factory wagons would have.
Wonder if they had a 3rd seat option?   Thats the way many kids (including me) saw America back in the day.

Duh!  it just dawned on me that I could click on the link and look for myself.    Looks like it could have had the 3rd seat, the back area looks like standard GM wagon stuff so it would have been a matter of clearance around the cads frame bits.    I am 99% sure that is the car I saw a few years ago.   I remember the rust on the rear quarters, bad yellow, paint and the EFI motor.   It was at some custom shop to be fitted with some 'dubs' (big riims).   I told the shop owner I was interested in buying it and to have the owner contact me if he was willing to sell but never heard back.    I did not do much more than walk around it in a parking lot and the shop guy was the one that told be it had efi,  had a bad fuel leak (which was likely O rings on the injectors), and that it barely ran.   Guess the owner did not care about having any of those issues fixed he just wanted something like $8000 worth of wheels and tires (if you can call em that when the sidewall is 1" tall).   Wonder if the guy ever got his rims or if he just spent all his money on the paint that apparently just went over the rust?
