After 7 years in the garage I have finally gotten my 49 series 62 4 door Cadillac cleaned up and back in a running state...not a full restoration but it still looks nice,  and as old cars go it still needs work, but that is just part of the pleasure of owning one.

7 years is an awfuly long time to keep walking out into the garage, seeing it but not driving it.  Glad you have her out and about.

Right On. Reminds my flight back to Franktown ,Colorado in 86 for my new sedan.

What a great 2.5 day journey back to the SF bay area it was as a young laddie, even the vapor lock @ Lovelock Pass, Co and the snow storm in Ely,Nevada where Don Frolich grew up.

I see you have parking lights instead of the fog lights that most '49s have.  Mine has parking lights too, which are much easier to deal with than fog lights.  Among other things they are easy to work on, and the bulbs are easily found and cheap.

Is that a temp gauge under the dash?  How about a pic of the motor?

Yes the parking lights are what was with the car, I put a aftermarket gauge in as our summers are extreme so I wanted a good handle on the temps...the other one works but is not used, I Will get some motor shots this weekend.

Looking at the 4th photo in the 2nd set of photos which shows the interior of the car through the opened right front door, I noticed in that there is no gasket in the oval defroster heat passage (hole) at the end of the dash.  (You can't see this passage when the door is closed.)  These gaskets are available from Steele Rubber Products, part number 70-0446-31.

At a ridiculously exorbitant price, I might add!  Better sit down when you find out the price for a pair of these! Joe Cutler

Sadly, not available for the 1950; At least 6 months ago, when I called Steele. These were the only 2 years  that Cadillac  had these registers. Ron
