I just made a new battery box for my 1939 LaSalle convertible sedan. While I was at it I made an extra one. They closely resemble the original that came out of my car, but are better I think. They are of 16 gauge metal, my original was somewhat thinner. Mine are one piece with bent up short sides instead of the thinner angle metal that is spot welded on and traps moisture where the pieces meet each other.

16 gauge metal is rugged metal, difficult to work. Anyway the spare is fitted to my car so I know it fits and is painted black.
