1939 LaSalle battery box

     This is a new battery box I made out of 16 Gauge steel. It is a bit thicker than the original and is one piece instead of three pieces spot welded together ( the joints catch and hold water and rust there) It is pre-fit to my 39.  It looks exactly the same as the original except for the one piece construction. I made two new ones while replacing mine.

    Sorry, I put it in my 1940 LaSalle convertible sedan that came along after the post.

     It isn't too difficult to make one with some tools, mainly a bender. I broke an import rated for 22 gauge metal when I used it with 16 gauge. !8 gauge would be adequate  and easier to bend. Make it out of cardboard first .

Thanks for the reply.  I'm traveling back to PA to see family and will stop by the welding shop I used to work at.  Yes it does look pretty simple.
