He makes sill plates for virtually all makes and models of cars. Excellent quality and reasonable prices. He has made them for me for several different cars, and is the supplier to many parts houses.

If the 37 Fleetwood is like the 38 to 40 Fleetwood big series cars Don does not make this type.  They are a fairly narrow brass rib with a flange on the side and chrome plate on them.  Don makes the aluminum one.  They are great and considering what it must take to make them very reasonable.

I agree with Brad. I have used Dons sills on many cars but the big series Fleetwods certainly did use a different type. As he said they are brass and chrome. I have a set from a 1939 Fleetwood and they are quite substantial.  Whats the chances of them fitting or being made to fit the 37 I wonder.

The ones he made for my convertible coupe are brass and I had them chrome plated. I had to send templates as I did not have any originals, and he didn't have any either or patterns. Perhaps he can't make the ones for the '37 in brass due to the rib and flange described. Sorry.

Cadillac was a premier luxury car. When they changed body styles, they CHANGED them. They wanted the cars to appear new and fresh. Continuing a part from an "old" body shell to a brand new one was something they simply didn't consider.

When a body shell was used for (usually) three years or so, one is correct in thinking that a door sill from a 1954 might fit a 1956 Cadillac of the same series. But not when they completely redesigned a body. Even then, they might change the pattern slightly.

So, there is no way a door sill plate from a 1939 Cadillac 75/90 would fit a 1937 Cadillac 70. But Steve was quite generous to think about offering his spare set to help out.

But then they did keep things "the same" like the 1941 lighter and other control knobs up through the 50s. Maddening isn't it???

Best of luck in your quest.

Your absolutely right Barry but I was thinking that because the bodies in question are big series Fleetwoods and not Fisher they may have in fact carried things over the years. I know they did it in some other aspects.    Perhaps 'Indian' can give the lengths needed for front and back and I will compare?
