i removed the horn ring without issue for a minor repair that was needed, but now in my attempt to do reverse procedure installing the ring, I just cannot get the horn button seated and turn it to final locked position and of course during my effort the plastic cushion that sits under retainer got cracked...
So I am looking for a replacement cushion if anyone might have one, or a source...so far no luck at the 1st 2 I called, McVeys or fusicks and any tips/tricks anyone has come up with during a similar procedure to get the horn button back in place.
Thank you for any advice, help

Try using two or three popsicle sticks or similar wood or plastic spacers between the steering wheel hub and the top of the steering column. This prevents the horn ring from moving when you try to compress the spring under the horn button.
On my 51 (same setup as the 52) I could not remove the horn button until I used this method, then it was easy. I hope my memory is correct, as it was several years ago when I did this.  Hope it works for you.

I glued up the cushion, i hope it holds up for this install.
