Bolt kits
« on: January 30, 2018, 03:57:58 PM »
Hey all. New to the forum. Restoration specialist for private owner.  Figured I would join here in case I need info.  I got a 1956 Cadillac Series 6219 and trying to find a company who may make a fastener kit for the car.  It is not fully authentic.  More of an 80 or 90 point driver.  I figured if nothing else I will order Interior and exterior kits for a 56 Belair 4 door Sedan and add what I need.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.  I would restore the originals but I was not the one to tear it down and basically have a bucket of fasteners more or less.  I hate coming in on someone Else's project.

Looks like your needing mostly body fasteners.   Doesn't mean they don't exist, I'm not aware of any kit for this.  Let me know if you find one.   Just the usual places; restoration specs, clips and fasteners, fastenal, dorman, auveco, etc. should do the job.   Some of those are hard to find new and just have to use what you find in size plastic, etc.   Part of the job.
The parts list should have the all fastener sizes in the back but won't tell you where they go.   Helps if you can find and look at another assembled car.   Or have someone sort the bucket and clean what's good and lay out together so you can see what you have.
For all: One is supposed to bag and label when disassembling.   You'll never remember all that and makes it rational to find new.

If I was at your location, I could tell what is what as I restored 2 '56 cars and a '57. A friend of mine bought years ago a '55 convertible with a bucket full of fasteenrs. I could tell mostly for what they should be used. Unfortunately, we are a bit too far away...
