To carry adequate current, is a 12v system coil wire suitable on these 6v cars? Where can one get a 6v - sized coil wire ?

If you are talking about the wire from distributor to coil it is #14 guage.  If you are talking about coil to distributor cap it is the same as spark plug wire.  Hope this answers your question

Hi Alan -  Herman is correct that the coil wire is 14 gage and is cotton braided black. The 12 volt is 16 gage. I found the best place to buy your wire is Rhode Island Wire.
