Thanks for the tip...it's any early one though...not a 346.

I think Steve is referring to the late 40's engine and transmission located in NY. There is also a claimed to be '36 engine that has one picture of a different engine thrown in. That engine is located in NJ.  http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=cadillac+engine+transmission&_sop=3&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xcadillac+flathead+engine+transmission.TRS0&_nkw=cadillac+flathead+engine+transmission&_sacat=0
They both seem to be very expensive based on description and pictures. Are you replacing an engine or do you not have one?      Harry

You spotted it too Harry? That is defiantly NOT a 36 engine and I have told the seller this who seems oblivious or couldn't care less. Its the problem with many of these sellers on eBay.

That engine looks like a post war one. It has the VIN boss just above the water pump and in the parts pile there is a flex plate and later heads. The last picture of a complete flathead engine looks like a Ford truck or maybe a Lincoln. If he doesn't know what he is selling I wonder how he came up with the price.   Harry

Hi Harry,
I don't have an engine...I'm replacing one. As funny as it might seem I have a 48 Pontiac Coupe and I want to replace the straight 8 with a Cadillac Flathead.

Sam, That sounds like a neat idea, an improvement in my mind. The reason I ask the question is I have several blocks and miscellanous engine parts but not a complete ready to go engine. If you were replacing a block or something along that line I may have been able to help.     Harry

Sam, there was one listed under the FOR SALE section back on march 21. maybe it is still available, Price seams much better than the one on ebay.

When a Doctor "saves a Life" it does not necessarily mean that that life will ever be the same as it was, but he still saved it. My 46 may not be as it was but it is still alive.

Hi Sheldon,
I rang John....he has already sold the engine. I'm sure will turn up somewhere. Thanks very much for the message.
