Looking for NOS or decent used sun visor supports for my 1940 52 Series LaSalle sedan. These are the same on all 1937 through 1940 closed Cadillac and LaSalle bodies. I believe that all closed 1937 through 1940 GM cars were the same.

The original part numbers are Group 33.1940, #4082378 (R) and 4082379 (L).

1941 and newer cars look the same, but evidently are not, because they have a different part number.

Let me know what you have.

I think the spacing on just one of the screws is slightly different on the later ones because Ty Stinson had this issue. Nice reproductions for the later type can be had from the Chev guys and can be made to fit. On my 1940 coupe I just drilled an extra hole and fitted a self taping screw with the same head as the originals.

Alan,
I may have some. A picture & the numbers on the back would help. What is wrong with yours?

Mine are still on the car. I hate to mess with them until I find replacements, be cause I don't want to chance screwing up my headliner and don't want make them worse than they are. I presume the numbers on them are the part numbers on my post.

My left side has no spring tension in its socket, so the visor goes fore and aft as the car accelerates and stops or goes up or down hills. It bumps the windshield and because I am tall, comes close to my forehead.

The right side has proper spring tension, but screw that holds the visor shaft tight is stripped. A prior owner put in a longer screw with a nut on the end. This is mostly a cosmetic problem.

I have owned the car for seven years. As I solve bigger problems, the small ones get more noticeable.

I got up my gumption and removed one from the car.

The number on the triangular casting with the three holes is "7-1-8A".

Anybody?
