That's good to know.

The booster got the cad-coating treatment, with a clearcoat, the MC got gloss black, because I just liked it.  I guess I really should have painted it 'steel', or just clearcoat it, but I didn't. After the black had cured a bit, I then hit it with a couple of coats of clearcoat.  The cap and clip did get a few coats of clearcoat, because it was in pretty good shape.

Guys,
I still can't find a rebuild kit for my car. 1968 Eldo. The one Caddy Daddy has is DeVille.
NAPA doesn't even list it. I'd really like to find a fresh kit. Any ideas??
Thanks, Bob

Bob,  are you talking about a master cylinder rebuild kit, or vacuum booster rebuild kit?  There's been several different assemblies discussed in this thread.

Bob,
have your tried to contact some of the professional brake rebuilders? Maybe they are selling repair kits as well? Could you have your master cylinder rebuilt by them if you cant find a kit?
I just got a quote from the major rebuilding companies for rebuilding my MC and prices range from $ 102.- to 250.- ...including resleeving.
I also want to have my booster rebuilt and prices here range from $ 125.- to $ 222.-

I got quotes from http://www.mwreman.com, http://www.karpspb.com, http://www.powerbrakex-change.com and http://www.midwestbooster.com

The problem I have now is that I have to choose the right company to do the job and I have no idea which one is the best...
Any recommendations?

Hi Gerald,
I have a company right here in San Jose called  Power Brake Exchange. I've used them in the past with good results. I never did price comparisons because of the shipping costs with other vendors. I'm not having the booster done, so I thought I'd just get a simple kit & do the job myself.. Wrong!  My next step is to make sure they HAVE the kit. I doubt if they sell a kit. What did they quote you without sleeving?
So... other than to say their work was good, I can't recommend them over another shop.
I'll post results soon.
