cleaning the Cadillac hood crest

I just acquired a 1974 Eldorado & the hood crest is oxidized and barely legible. Any suggestions for restoring it is welcomed.

I take it that you are referring to the Crest?

If so, then you can simply rub it with wet'n'dry, and this will remove the surface to reveal the material.   The one on my own '72 was the same.
