Desperately needed to complete rebuild of engine and transmission of my 1947 4 door sedan series 62 Cadillac.
on the one I am replacing, teeth are badly worn from starter.

A massive difference as you say, Gary. One is a flex plate.  There was a manual flywheel on eBay recently that sold for little money.  If it's manual it's really just the ring gear needed.
