I am importing a 76 cdv into the UK the car does not have a vinyl landau roof fitted, I would like to fit one, does anyone know of any companies that still manufacture these roofs?
thanks

I am guessing, but I think any trim shop would be able to install one for you, if all you want is a vinyl top.  If you want it factory, then you might have a problem.  Do you want a full top or a cabriolet top?

hi Johnny,
the car is a hardtop, the vinyl top I would like, would be the one that goes from the B pillar back over(padded).I think it would be difficult to get anybody to do a job like that over here, seem to remember reading an article, that stated, these tops have a fibre glass base with slots that fit onto studs welded on the roof, some type of glue would also be used (at factory), is this the case?.
regards jeff.

Hi Jeff,

Let me state right from the beginning that I am not a trim man.  I have very limited knowledge of what is involved in adding a vinyl top.  With that said allow me to continue.

What you want appears to be what is called a cabriolet top. The other top you mention with the fibreglass base is what was used on full simulated convertible roofs.  The fibreglass base had ridges on it, to look like the inside bows of convertible tops.  I dont believe you need that base on what you want.  I believe its just a matter of covering the roof from the B pillar back.  I think you have the option of having the roof padded or unpadded.  The padded look makes it look more luxious.  The most difficult part, I would imagine, would be getting the chrome trim that goes around the roof.  Try a search on the Internet, to see if you can find a website that might sell the whole kit.  Then see if you can find a trim shop that would install it for you.

thanks for that info Jonny,
I will keep checking on net etc.
having said that, I have been looking for a few weeks now and have drawn a blank, however,on the plus side, I have discovered this wonderful forum which I have been reading over the last few days, good stuff.
The car is somewhere between Denver CO and the UK at the moment so there is plenty of time to sort this issue.
On a slightly different note, I have owned a 63 series 62 coupe for the last 2 years, my first American car, still got her, what a fantastic car, shes no trailer queen, got a fault with the gearbox, uses lots of oil, a bit rust here and there, put about 6K miles on her and loved every minute, will spend money on her as and when Ive got it, to slowly restore her,I should have bought a Caddy 25 years ago.
The $ to join the club will be on its way soon, how can you put a price on a good book?.

*take note, that these are the websites of businesses that install the roofs.  Possibly by getting in touch with them, they might steer you where you want to go.  Good Luck.
