My 1975 CDV's hood insulation was shredded by a mouse, or some sort of rodent. I am ordering a replacement for it, but it occurred to me after I had removed the wads of it from the engine and the remaining parts of it which were hanging down- is it made of asbestos?

If it was, then you will probably be charged with giving the mice cancer.  However, it was not.

For that time period, it's fiberglass mat.  It's readily available.

I recently replaced the good insulation on my 90 Fleetwood,  I couldn't find any supplier that offered the pad with the embossed  Cadillac on it. Just ended up buying the mat and cutting it out myself to match the original. Cost was under $60.
