This morning, I got an inquiry which is difficult: for a 1938 Serie 75 car, I should supply brake cylinders and master cylinder, brake hoses (sent a request to Custom brake hoses), rear axle pinion seal as well as front and rear wheel seals, plus a front suspension stabilizer kit.

I may find the rear wheel seals as they were used till 1958 on CC vehicles; but no clue about the front ones.

I did a research and saw that some years ago, Carquest had brake cylinders for that car. However, trying to find an online catalog is pure frustration.

I suppose the best way is to let resleeve the cylinders; however, shipping parts abroad is never an easy decision.

What are my choices for those parts?

There must be companies in every country that will re-sleeve Roger? Certainly are here in the UK.

Probably, Steve. However, I had a bad experience and prefer to deal with companies doing that on a daily basis.

Doesn't need a brake company, any engineer worth his salt will re-sleeve cylinders.

My own engineer has re-sleeved cylinders to size, and changed the cylinder size to accommodate a decrease in line pressure.

You are right, Bruce. The bad experience I had was with a good mechanical shop; anyway, the master cylinder leaked...As it's not for my car, I'm not open for experiences.

I had a bad experience also with a re-sleeved master cylinder Roger. I don't know who did the work but how anyone can re-drill that very, very tiny by-pass port hole is a mystery to me. I bought a Packard some years back which came with a re-sleeved cylinder and they had drilled the hole to the smallest size they could manage, really small, but not small enough.   When using the brakes the cup rubber under such huge pressure continually passing over this hole would get a fraction shaved off as it would try to press into it.   By 10 miles or so there was enough gone for complete brake failure so I understand your concerns.
There is a place here claiming they specialize in this job though. Been doing it a long time.  They did a good job on my Cadillac wheel cylinders but I didn't have a master done there.
Shame the 75 does not take the same size cylinder as the smaller series.

When I rebuild the brakes on my 39 Series 75 I just purchased a new master brake cylinder for a Hyster forklift.
These are perfectly the same as the Cadillac. I don't remember the part number but I will try to find it.
look online for Hyster forklift master brake cylinders and maybe You can find what You need, they also have the triangular base to bolt them to the chassis.

If i find the parts# i will let You know

This is an alternative which could be interesting. I will suggest it to the owner; it would be fine if you can find that part number; the master cylinder on the series 75 and 90 is the same from 1938 to 1940.

By the way, I just got an answer from Custom brake hoses: I have to send the old ones...

I have been doing this for some years that's why I said it's a shame they are a different size than the small series. I thought the 75 used a much bigger bore.  These are the ones I use on my small series but they are all 1" bore.

I'm totally ignorant: which is the master cylinder bore size for the Serie 75?

I echo the Fork lift master cylinder usage.
When Frank DeCou ( and I) had a master cylinder failure on the 40 LaSalle on the trip to the Anaheim, we were directed to the one for a York lift truck. I even has the same casting number on it. The only change required was to swap " the nose" as the line out used a compression fitting rather than  the normal automotive threaded fitting. NAPA at a very rural store said they could have one that afternoon.

Be careful of the brake distribution block, they are easily broken, and not easy to come by

I can't seem to find any size for the master cylinder in my book Roger but it does list the wheel cylinder sizes as larger so I just assume the master would be larger also.  A different part number in the MPB for the big series.

Well this is not exactly what was needed but it might help someone, and may be a starting point to find the one needed.
