The battery voltage on a battery being used on a 346 (voltage  measured from terminal to terminal on the battery)
......what would be the maximum permissible voltage drop during cranking ?

(..........Assume the cables / connections/ grounds/solenoid etc are in great shape )

Jack,
If your 6 volt battery is fully charged it should read approx. 6.6 volts without any load on it.  While cranking the engine the voltmeter reading shouldn't drop below 4.8 volts.
