These window trim pieces have been loose ever since I bought this car close to twenty years ago. I'm thinking of ordering the clips or retainers or whatever it is that holds this trim on. I would like to get everything needed in advance so the whole job can proceed smoothly (Ha!) and expeditiously. What holds the trim on and where can you order them?

It also looks like there are more holes in the door than there are pins to fit in them. Are the pins available and how are they installed to the trim pieces?

I suspect thats those self biting push on clips. Is that fixed studs in the back of your trim?
Try' Restoration Specialty Supplies'.  In their book they come under the 'Speed nut' heading, flat type for studs, they have many different sizes,

Take a look at this page from MBP and see if it's there. I'll then look up the number if you want

Thanks for this lead. I hafta say that I'm completely overwhelmed by the number of automotive fasteners available. I had no idea! The search function did not work and poking through the catalog is very slow slogging. Part of the problem is that I'm not sure what these fasteners look like.

The studs are fixed to the back of the trim piece and have no threads. Some are missing and I would like to find replacements to have on hand so that this can come apart, be repaired and go right back together the same day.

Below is an enlargement of the pic of the stud. One of the missing ones is just a bit further along in this shot.

That looks like it should have a push nut on it,is it visable on the inside to push the fastener on to?on the newer cars they have push nuts that help to hold some trim on rubber bumper covers,i would go to a good hardware store and see if they have something that might work,or try a bodyshop supply store.i have attached a picture of what I mean,Home Depot says they have some. Yes, that might be just what Cadillac used. I was hoping someone here might know and be able to put a name to them. I'll bet they were not unique to Cadillac. This same body was used by LaSalle, Buick & Oldsmobile. I'll bet that trim was just the same also.
