I have a 1957 CDV with a unrepairable diff. After 12 years of ownership I decided to have the pinion seal replaced and was shocked to see the damage ( snapped axle support housing).
The gear is a code 3 3.06:1. My questions are.
1. is a gear code 6 3.36:1 diff going to be suitable?  2. Will a diff from a 390 fit the 57 Housing"
Thank You

The gear ratio " 3.36 " will effect your MPG but it may fit. It probably is from a older Cad. with a smaller engine. I would do a search & try to get the proper one.

Bob and Leroy. I want to thank you kindly for your assistance. The 336.1 gear was for the duel carbed and air conditioned cars of 57 also the series 75 Nine pass and limos.
Your advice had helped me locate a suitable replacement that my Diff engineer can make work.
Cheers and thanks again
