Recently I developed a flickering in my exterior lights on my 1941 6109. When I increase idle speed the flickering speed increases as well. Even at fast RPM I can detect it. Any ideas?

That sounds like a battery/generator issue.  Check to be sure your battery is fully charged and the generator is charging to full voltage.

I suspect worn, pitted, or burned contacts in the voltage regulator. The ammeter pointer should be wiggling in synch. with the flickering lights. There were special files for dressing the regulator contacts, probably hard to find now. Try a new regulator if you have one(another hard to find part). Don't forget to polarize after installing a regulator or generator.

Since it so tied to engine speed, I am wondering if there is a bad section on the
armature of your generator.  Put it on a growler and check it out.  Not much
experience with generators here, got rid of them as soon as possible.  Bruce Roe

Thanks for your response. Have you replaced a generator with an alternator?
