My 70 Eldo rides very hard.  New air shocks on the back and new monroes on the front.  Car had been in storage for 18 years.  Could the springs be defunct?  Any ideas why it rides so hard?

Are the tires 18 plus years old ?

No, the tires are steel belted radials one year old and balanced.
Can the springs get old and make for hard riding?  I would thnk, the opposite, they would just get more springy.

Stan,

I added a leaf to my 67 Eldo.  Does yours have the original monoleaf rear spring?  If not, maybe inter-leaf friction.  If original, the rear spring shouldnt be the issue.

The torsion bar front is adjustable, but only based on ride height.  Quite frankly, I had steel belted radials on the car that rode like crap, and until I put Michelins on it, the ride did not improve.  

Also, keep the PSI relatively low (30-32), but not in the twenties.

Check the suspension arm bushings, upper and lower, back and front.
