Reinstalling my radiator:  The radiator is not seating all the way.
I have the flanges on the radiator in front of the flanges in the radiator housing in the car.  Is that correct?

Does the radiator seat into the box on the bottom or in front of it?  Does it require a good shove or something?  Any pics or advice is appreciated.

Thanks

Steve Passmore

Can't answer specifically for 39 but all my radiators sit into the bottom box but the flange is on the outside of the backside of the housing, otherwise you wouldn't get the bolts in.

For anyone reading this thread later there are small tabs in the radiator "box" that are about 1/8" wide that will prevent the radiator from seating  fully and allowing the bolt holes on the radiator and body flange to line should you place the radiator flange in front (toward front of car) of the body flange (where the radiator bolts too).

Happy wrenching.  Don't swear or get frustrated.  Take a deep breath and start over.
