I traded an acquaintance a guitar for this caddy. There is engine knock when revving. What engines would be the easiest to swap with?

A used 4.5 or 4.9 set up for the transverse mounting would work if you are going to try to do it as inexpensively as possible.

The 4.9 was used in 89 and newer I think.

89-90? ish which was in the 4.5 era they changed from the throttle body injection system to a sequential multiport system so there are a lot more differences like high pressure fuel system and completely different electronics.

88 and 89 used the 4.5 with throttle body injection. 1990 the 4.5 got port  fuel injection, 91 thru 95 got the 4.9 with port injection
