I have dealt with dozens of 80's 307's and every one of em had the identical setup to what you ordered with the short slightly bent tube.   If you have to make something I would think your best shot would be one of those '68' pipes they sell.  At least those look long enough so maybe they would just need some bending or cutting to re orient things slightly.

I too remember trying to figure out how to mount a 10/12 alternator in place of a 15 or 21 or what ever it was they called those big ones and never was able to come up with anything that looked like it would work long term.    If you really want to use the 10 or 12 alternator you will likely have to find the correct brackets.   Pretty much any Olds brackets other than what you have or off a diesel should work.   Most of them had the smaller alternators including the 80's 307's.

The 3 diesels here all had a bigger alternator, I think 70A.  They looked
like the gas version, but were a bit bigger and used slightly different
mounting brackets.  That is all I have here.  Bruce Roe

Why not get your old one rebuilt by a local auto electric shop?  You know it fits.  Don't get someone else's rebuild from a parts store, get your own done.

Good morning,

yes, this morning I located a little old-fashioned shop, not far from my home. says they specialize in rebuilding so I will phone them and see what they say.

places like this are a dying thing these days, look at their lunch table set up in the driveway :) ... it would be cool if they can do the job for me.  mark~

Hi, I still havent received the Fusick Olds parts yet, but I was thinking of picking up on of these elbows to add to those parts & use up at the air cleaner side hole, then a nice looking connection to the Olds tube should work. Pics below of 2 Fusick parts and ebay-GM elbow I was thinking to try out

I do want to weight total cost though against what Cadillac Heaven or King will charge for the real/correct tube since Fusick will take back the parts. Not so much because of the cost, but more that of course, I'd prefer the original Cadillac snake-tube if close in $$. mark~

Hi Bruce, does that mean you have some applicable brackets around in your parts bin?  Do you and TJ think that the 307 brackets would bolt up to holes on my 350 block? It should be easier to find the 307 stuff out there I'd imagine.  mark~

I am very sure any hardware fitting a 307, will also fit a 350/403.  A couple decades
ago I found that I had 3 or 4 different alternator arrangements on my cars, which
complicated keeping spares.  Since I wanted just a bit of an upgrade from the
minimum, and 3 of my cars already had diesel alternators, and  I realized my 81
belt arrangement was superior in several ways, I went to the yard and found
enough parts to bring all 5 cars to the 81 diesel standard.  Now have 11 identical
alternators, 6 are backups (after a few hundred miles testing) on the shelf.  I threw
everything else out, gave my 100A alt to Fred Nisson.  I don't have a lot of spare
diesel alt mounts, maybe one.

The above involved the correct mount for the bigger alt, the water pump pulley, the
belts, and the power steering pump (pulley).  The problem with the 81 up single belt
pulley steering pump, was it had a different fitting for the pressure hose, than the
flare style on my 77-79 steering boxes.  Rather than custom a hose with 2 different
style fittings, I just transferred output plug in the pump which unscrews, a direct fit.

how does this one look for the upper?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Oldsmobile-Alternator-Bracket-upper-From-350-With-A-C/322508802962?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D40130%26meid%3Dab4b2ed792e44fe18389ac126891dfa9%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D121706048009

I could test things out once I have this bracket in hand and go from there if any issues with reach on my existing lower adjusting/tension bracket, likely put something together from hardware parts.  As a note, I do have the original Cadillac stabilizer bracket coming up off the lower head and that should bolt to the alt. backside using just a small spacer.

BTW, I really am better off on ebay, as the boneyard situation (especially U-pull types), anywhere around me is grim, I've gone out several times. Almost all late 90s-2000s disposable crap boxes. couple places waay South of me that would likely have it, but prices same or higher than ebay, besides time & fuel.  mark

When I went to the yard, I came back with ALL the needed parts, every
last hose, bolt, and bracket, in UNDAMAGED condition.  That was never
the case when I got something from someone else.  Bruce Roe

you are so right on this one Bruce and have the experience to back it up, sadly, those type yards with correct cars just arent around me any longer. When I was a boy and went with my Grandpa, they were everywhere.

Anyhow, I spoke with the local guys at the alternator repair shop here and they are super nice. they have all the parts and will rebuild everything inside mine and include a complete sandblast to look like new for flat $85   I'm gonna drop it off tomorrow and now can move on with rest of project. :)

Bruce, if the breather tube you have is in fact the correct one, are you interested in selling it?   If not I will attempt to put something custom together with Fusick parts as Cadillac Heaven & King both do not have any more of them.        mark~

Ask me again in a year.  I probably have a box of the kind you ordered by mistake.

small update...

I'm attaching a pic of the layout/config I'm gonna attempt to go with for the Seville's air cleaner-to-valve cover breather pipe.

The 3 parts I am gonna try are same as pictured and come off of a late '60s Oldsmobile (as TJ had mentioned). BTW... isn't this guy's motor amazing, just flawless, so beautiful.

It is a different 'look' than the snake-tube Cadillac used, but what I do like is that it is OEM GM part design and will also work well functionally. I did see a couple replica molded hose-tubes on ebay shaped like mine, but they are for the passenger side of '60s Buicks and when flipped over for my driver's side, wont line up properly.

I'll post results as I progress with all the work on the car.  I also thought for a down the road project, it actually should not be hard for me to fabricate my own Cadillac replica pipe from copper, as I have all the bending tools etc in the basement.

I'm getting my original generator (complete rebuild & sandblasted), back this week as well.  mark~
