So my 77 decided to crank up and then immediately turn itself off over and over again.  I was reading up that bad coolant sensor seems to be a pretty common issue on these models.  Does anyone know where the actual coolant sensor is located?  I bought the part and I can't find any information online.  Thanks in advance!!

I am not sure I understand the issue? Your car (starter) would not stop cranking? This would not be related to the temp sensor...I would start with the starter solonoid or wires associated and work your way towards the ignition switch

Sorry, I can crank it but it dies as soon as it starts up.

Coolant sensor is located at the front area of the intake manifold and the one at the rear right side of the manifold. They are interchangeable

Those 2 wire sensors when unplugged should measure around 1000 ohms
cold, increasing when the engine is hot.  They have no effect after warmup,
can be unplugged.

There are amplifiers in the ECU which could disable the sensor action.  Another
problem could be a bad ECU MAP sensor, giving inadequate fuel.  You can check
the 77 MAP with a voltmeter by removing a cover, as described in the first
album of my PHOTOBUCKET.  The second album is the schematic of your ECU.

Also check your fuel pressure.  good luck, Bruce Roe
