Mine didn't work so I just hooked them to a spare batter or jump pack.

Ah ha
Mine won't work either. I have a battery pack so I will try that.
Thank you

Yes, you have to use an outside 12 Volt battery if using a powered timing light.

Using a simple inline one, doesn't require outside power.

Or get one of those like I did. Has batteries and can even work as a flashlight.
Only one lead to connect.

I took Mr Hoplands advice and used my 12 power supply. The battery operated one looks very interesting though. I have a good snap on light that worked on 6 or 12 but someone must have borrowed it and we all know how that works.
Replaced with a cheap from HF

Somewhere I think I have a snap on one that plugs into regular 120v.  Back then I always had the classic 'trouble' work light that had the extra socket in it so it wasn't a big deal to plug it in.   I quit using it because it wasn't inductive.  On old stuff it seemed you could always easily slide the boots back for access but newer wires don't seem to want you to do that.

Folks,

If you go on e-bay, and search for:

Snap On Timing Light 215 B

You can find this light. It works on both 6 and 12 Volt systems and is nice and bright. Make sure the seller guarantees it works.

I have more than one of these and really like them.
