Just getting a few feelers out there right now. My 41 series 62 is just a little worn looking. I can do some cosmetic work on it, but I would still want a 60s, so I may as well start looking. Would like one with automatic and near original. I am not looking for some recent restoration that is a high dollar car. Rather have one that is just OK like it is and would be fine to leave it as-is. If I can get a full set of photos that show in detail condition of body and chassis, GREAT! I am not interested in purchasing from a re-seller that has no connection with the car. I want to find the guy that KNOWS his car and has decided to pass it to the next caretaker. THAT is the car I want to have under my seat.. The car that I can take to an event and OTHER Cadillac Guys KNow WHo had it and how it was cared for and happy to see that I am doing the same.
I need to use my shop time for the cars in restoration and HOPE to find time to put my 29 Cad Sports Phaeton together.

You might gently approach Ann Steig about Carl's 60S. Better yet, call Ted Raines first and ask what if he thinks she might be ready to sell that car yet. This car has been driven across the country at least twice and back and forth to Alaska. Both are in California and listed in the Directory.

Barry, thanks for the suggestion. It would be an honor to have Carl's 60s. I am not sure if Ann is ready to let go, but I did have that one in mind. I am not far away from the car, it would be easy to bring it home to Napa. I did pass a note to one of Carl's close friends a couple weeks ago.

Rod, what is your upper limit as far as cost for this ?  You say you don't want a High Dollar car, and obviously condition will matter . What do you hope to spend ?     Mecum has one going over the block in August at Monterey.   I have a decent example but not sure I am ready to sell.

Hmm-- What I want to spend and what I have to spend and what I expect to spend--- WOW--- You put me on the spot.... I have looked at a couple cars that are not sold-- priced at mid 20's. I have seen ads for cars for more than 30 that claim to have been sold. I MESSED UP BIG when I was playing phone tag for a really nice one for 12. YES, 12,000. ------  Just could not get the guy to agree when I could come--  Next I know, I see it on ebay-- SOLD right away. I do know that my 1941 Series 62 I have now is a very reliable car, but cometics are not great. I have offered it for sale for more than 4 years-- NO takers at all at 10 grand...  Is a 60 special worth double? maybe so...

Rod, the car I spoke of going over the block in Monterey, has just been listed on Hemmings for sale at Park Place LTD in Bellevue Wa, (been there, nice place )  It is listed at just under 35 K .  That could be top dollar for this car from the pics, I believe they sell on consignment at Park Place,  my buddy bought a very nice 56 T Bird there and the owner was living in Phoenix.  Maybe you can swing a deal and they can avoid transportation and other fees from Mecum.   Just thought I would pass that on . I am guessing this is a "high dollar car " to you and it certainly is to me !  But it never hurts to look  :)

Spoke with the gentleman in Chicago selling his Sixty Special. Very nice man to talk with. Sounds like he has a good car, but it is modified with a late model 500 or 472 engine and transmission. Body was professionally repainted about 12 years ago. Needs interior work, but exterior seems to be pretty good. I want an original car, so this one will not work for me.
His granddaughter told me he really would like to see his car go to someone that will  take good care of it. She says he is in poor health and wold like this to happen soon.
Anyone in his area that is interested should go see what they can do to help find the car's next caretaker.

Ron,

Would love to talk to the Chicago owner of the 41 with the 500 engine.
