On Sept. 9th, 2017 we will meet at the McDonalds parking lot at 1420 East Chase (just south of I-30), leaving at 11:30 a.m. and heading west on I-30. We will then meet up with any others at the Kroger parking lot, off west 820, at 9114 Camp Bowie W Blvd at about noon, and leave at 12 :30 p.m. heading west on I-20 as a caravan of Cadillacs (and other fine cars) to exit 418, then north on Ranch House Road to the First Baptist Church, Willow Park, for a 2:00 p.m. Memorial Service for Karen Hannah, who passed away August 27th. Dress is jeans or long casual trousers-no shorts please.

Afterwards we will travel on I-20 to exit 377, west on highway 193, and then on to Strawn for Mary’s Café, 119 Grant Ave, for Chicken Fried Steak (be careful â€" don’t order the large unless you want to feed yourself and a squad of hungry soldiers…). Details on actual route to be presented on the 9th.

It’s about 91 miles from Ft. Worth to Strawn or 1hr and 45 minutes. That should put us in Strawn by at least 4:00 p.m. for dinner. or upon being seated. We will leave Mary’s afterwards and head out another 32 miles or 30 minutes north to Mineral Wells. If folks want to hike off their chicken fried steak we can do a walking tour of the Baker Hotel, a vacation destination for Glenn Miller, Lawrence Welk, Clark Gable, Judy Garland, and future U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson. It is rumored that Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow may have stayed there, too. And if there is time, wed can visit the Clark Gardens Bo-tanical Park. http://www.clarkgardens.org/visit/directions.html.
