Finally relieved my car fund of some extra cash and dove back into the Caddy scene yet again. Runs and drives with original drivetrain but need to make her pretty again.

Not too bad a starry for a NY east coast car.

I'm sure I'll get flogged, but man that would look good as a hot rod with metallic red paint  :D

Daddy and 35,
Thanks for the praise. I’m looking to get her back into a fresh Pompeii (or close) red paint job, maybe lowered 1-2” with some wide whites. Keeping her stock as best I can. Once the bugs get ironed out with the mechanics I’ll get that engine compartment and motor looking sparkly again. I’ll keep updating when I can. Glad to have some money to put into this after selling my ‘55 Belair instead of the usual begging and borrowing!

GM used that color across the board back in those days for a few years, each division had its own name for it.  Chevrolet called it Honduras Maroon, I would imagine that any auto paint store worth its salt could mix that popular color for you in BC/CC or as you say, something very close.

So on our first garage date she peed on the floor and sneezed in my face.
Gas tank spring a leak which prompted me to drop it for repair. That in turn started the cleanup of decades of dirt, rust, and undercoating underneath before reinstalling. She has a sense of humor for being 58yo!

A quick glance at the photo, i thought you were sporting a Mexican wrestler's mask.
I love to see a guy working with his hands to get his girl gussied up and on the road again.

New trunk pan installed! A little bit of welding and a little bit of 3M panel bonding adhesive makes an easier job. Pretty good fit overall but needed a few pieces of fabrication here and there. Gas tank back in and on to finish bodywork!

Hope you plan on keeping the Pompeian Red.

Good luck with the progress.
