Since a lot of us are good and cold even in places that don't normally get cold figured this would be a good topic.

A thing that just got me was I had some hand cleaner and 'purple power' cleaner in the garage that froze solid and cracked the containers.   I brought them to thaw and drain in the utility sinks.   If I had not noticed they would have made quite a mess when they thawed.

Another thing I started doing is keeping one of those weed sprayer bottles that you hand pump up full of the premium washer fluid.   It speeds up the defrosting when spray on glass when its ice covered.   It even helps if your door seals freeze, you just spray it in the cracks.

Anyone have any other tips other than have a heated garage or move south where 'freezing' is maybe 50*F?

We're in Dallas, low is expected in the low 20s.  The car is garaged and liquids are fine in there.  Cold snap supposed to last maybe 3 to 5 days, then lows return in the mid 30s.

0-12 degrees here in NJ for the last week. It's going to be around for a little while longer. Not worth putting the heat on in the shop....Sucks  >:(

For me it isn't really the cold, it is the salt on the roads. Normally if we get a little snow, it warms up in a few days and then rain washes it away. However it has been dry here and below freezing for the last couple weeks and at least 1 more. I want to go out and drive it..... argh!

We have been below zero F pretty regularly but things need to
be done.  I use a pair of HOT HANDS pads in mittens to keep
my fingers from freezing while snow blowing and cleaning off
the 250 foot solar array (that supplies my heat).  I have kept
extra pads in the shed in case mine timed out, but today I
found they were not functional.  My guess is, being subject to
some 10 below zero killed them, will need to keep them all
in the house.  Bruce Roe
