US is also exporting a lot of petroleum distillates, so they're making money on both ends, selling the excess and limiting the internal supply.   Regulation driven mainly because of poor US Govt understanding of refining.   Demand is above pre-crash amounts aking it more costly to feed those high compression Cads.   James Cotton's "high compression blues" is on my MP3 player.

Life in this country has become a rigged game.  after all these years my outrage gauge is on E.  Maybe that was the plan all along.
It's always been a rigged game but now it's a free-for-all and the little guy has no chance as corps. operate without a conscience or consequences.

But the weather here in Florida is beautiful and I'm going for a drive.  ;)

And this is why I pulled out my bro's low mileage old project car sitting in a barn for 12 years, it replaced my high compression turbo daily driver. Actually we're a bit lucky here as a near by station sells 88 octane for less than the 87 - some sort of discount for charity I guess.

Life in this country has become a rigged game.

Become?  I'd say it's largely been that way for a very long time.  A big difference is that the Internet, social media, 24 hour news, etc has exposed things and given people access to information more than was possible in time past.

Currently....

.....reading a 1068 page biography of President U.S. Grant. If one thinks the game is rigged now....just turn the clock back to the 1870s ....study the decades before and after.  Never was the way our civics teachers taught us.

Somehow we struggle through and life is pretty good.

Interesting how our passion for Cadillacs brings us together and provides us with a sense of well being in spite of pervasive cynicism in our popular culture .  I vividly recall driving my red/white 83 Eldorado roadster down the highway, and simply looking forward over that gleaming paint and Cadillac's corporate totem riding way out front providing me with such a sense of pride and well being.
