hello out there !

the glue ? that seperates the inner and outer metal on my limo hood has fallen apart

Q what is the correct product to use ?

Q I am also thinking of adding dyna mat insulation as well as the factory insulation - is that overkill?

thanks , Murray Mules

G'day Murray,

The factory used a number of dabs of glue to stop the rattling, and it worked well.

As for using Dynamat, I would be inclined to use the original fibreglass mat that is held in place with a number of clips.   I purchased the matting from USA, and it was cut to fit, with the attaching holes in their correct places.

I wouldn't be surprised if when using Dynamat, it would suffer from gravity problems and fall off because of the heat from the engine itself.

Liquid Nails - ummmmmmm   Sounds like a good idea.   Shouldn't cause any rust problems like some silicones.

Another thought: The added weight of the dyna mat might overcome the springs.

Get some fusor from your body shop supply store.  I believe I used this, but would have to check (may have used fast drying-5 min)  https://www.autobodytoolmart.com/lord-fusor-metal-bonding-adhesive-medium-p-15934.aspx  Body shop suppy store told me what to use.

However, do it before you do the bodywork on the hood as you may pull it down a little.  Hang hood right side up when done.  Your hood will be solid when done...I did it on my 66.   Don't ask me why I know you should do it before you finish the bodywork on hood ;)  ...But it will save you an additional 20 hours of labor :)

Not sure on the liquid nails as it says nothing about metal on the site.  Chuck
