Hi Folks,

I'm looking for a dash panel badge / emblem for the passenger side on my '66 Eldorado.

When I inherited my car it was already missing, so I'm not sure what it's supposed to have on it, I'm guessing 'Eldorado' (?)  I'm struggling to find an original one irrespective of condition.  If someone has one or can point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.

Failing that, although originality goes out the window :-[ if I could find a badge / emblem with some Cadillac related inscription that I could use it would at least cover up the two holes I have in the trim.  Maybe there's a glove box emblem from another model or year that I could use?  It needs to be at least 3" long to cover the holes and around an 3/4" or less high

Here's hoping

Peter,

You'll have to hunt around for someone parting a car. If you look closely at the pic, you'll see the emblem with black background and block letter font. Back in the day, dealer's would make up engraved name plates with a small crest for new owners that fit inside the emblem....Nice "Cadillac touch" that might be a alternative.

As a bit of unmarketable information, my first '66 Eldorado was the fifth from the last built. I knew the complete history of the car from date of order. I had to find the same emblem because it had a de Ville script emblem in that location from the factory. It was either a line mistake or inventory of that part was not available.

Hi Ralph,

I've been looking for a while now, but I suppose, while making them reasonably unique, one of the problems of having a low volume production run vehicle is the finding of specific parts like these.  I did try the 65-66 owners page and got close but then didn't get a response from the vendor.  Still, I'll keep on looking, something will turn up when I'm not expecting it.

If I've read my data plate correctly mine is somewhere towards just past half way? see attached pic.

Cheers

Peter

Peter,

The "03D" indicates the your car was assembled the 4th week of March 1966. It was built with Crystal Firemist paint, white leather interior/black carpet and accents and a white convertible top. In addition to the standard Eldorado equipment it had "E" Soft Ray Glass and "K" Automatic Climate Control (AC) extra cost options.

Series75

You could install a FLEETWOOD dash emblem reproduced by OPGI in place of Eldorado.   The fit and finish would be good, and it is of course your car is a Fleetwood Eldorado.

Series 75 - The Fleetwood emblem will do for now, thanks for the pointer.

Ralph - thanks for the info on the data plate.  Unfortunately when I got the car someone had used some sort of paint on the leather (Yup, that's right... Paint!) which as you can imagine had completely ruined the leather.  I found the original colour paint when I went back to bare metal, under three other colours.  It looked to be a very pale green pearl effect colour.

As I'm not going for originality the interior is now a Rolls Royce Tan colour and the body is now Jaguar - 'Italian Racing Red'.  Hopefully, after a 13 year project, I'll be able to post some pictires around the end of July of it completed.
