Hi Guys as the restoration on my car moves on I have been going through authenticity manuals and found that the Internal door opening handles and so also the window winders should have ivory coloured plastic inserted steel Eustecheons. Is that true? The ones that came out of my car don't show any signs of having any plastic inserts at any point of time. They also seem to be very much original to the car.
Is there some source who can make the plastic knob inserts at the end of the winders. Mine are in very bad shape. I am sending this batch out for chroming. I also need a couple of cir-clips which retains the handles if there's a source where these are available.
Thanks in advance.
I think the plastic may have corroded off from that grove on your Eustecheons.
The clips are available.

Thanks Steve
I also have a 1940 5227C. This is how my handles look. The car was restored 20 years ago and so I cannot vouch for authenticity.
Bob
They don't look like the correct handles Bob.
Not surprised. I knew you would know Steve. Good thing this is not a serious show car. But sure is lovely and fulfills my desire.
Bob
Has any one tried using these Chevy Eustecheons on their 1940 cadillacs. Do they work?

They seem to be available in plenty on ebay and quite reasonably priced too!
There are many different escutcheons that would work, any Gm in fact but it would depend on how authentic one wanted it to look?
I have them and they do work but choose not to use them,
To the average person they are ok but to someone who knows the difference they look cheap.
They also tend to be on every car someone can't find or is unwilling to find a correct replacement.
Take a look at Bobs Automobila. He has Buick parts that may look better.
I had a friend 3D print inserts for mine. The Shape is perfect but the color is a off, we are working on it.

Hi Fred that sounds like a good idea. 3D printing never struck me as a possibility. Could you put up a final image of the finished Eustecheon after it was 3D printed and assembled. Colour I'll work on here.
I think your handles are the same as Cadillac through 41 Amol. These are ones I removed from a 41 sedan and they are the same in my 41 fastback.
They are the same on my 1940 5219. I have been wondering for years what to do about them.

Superb this really helps, It appears that out of all the GM eustecheons I have seen so far this may the simplest.
I think it may be just the sedans using these ivory inserts Amol as both my coupe and convertible coupe has solid chrome ones, but that gives you better scope in finding good replacements.
Considering the number of 1941 Cadillacs, one would think that they would have been reproduced by now.
I would certainly be a customer.
I believe that Dan Whalen still reproduces these items. You have to send him your handles I inserted his escutcheon plastic pieces myself. My door handles (5267) were clear plastic inserts. I don't see why they couldn't be made in ivory. He is in Ohio. His phone number is 513-734-4040. He does not have an email as far as I know.
Thank you very much, Bill.
I will contact Mr. Whalen and keep you posted.
Thank you Bill! Allan if you get in touch with him can you also PM me the details. I'll get my handles and surrounds chromed and send it to him by courier from India. Thanks
I would have thought as they are the same in different years and models it should be possible to get a good usable set without the expense of re-chroming etc? Many 41 sedans have been dismantled.
Gentlemen I am talking to a few 3 D printing guys in Mumbai India to develop and print the ivory colored eustecheons and other miscellaneous plastic things like radio blank buttons etc. If anyone else needs these please PM me. There may be some discounts on bulk orders. I am doing this at cost. Thanks
