I am checking out my 57 and find the brake pedal straddles a vertical rod that actuates the brake. Just below the pedal they are connected but the retainer clip that keeps them together is missing. I purchased the car e few months ago and am just starting to sort out a few problems. I had it delivered to a parking lot a couple of miles from my house and drove it home. Luckily the pedal did not get disconnected until I had stopped in front of my garage.
