After hours of tracing, it turned out that the "clogged" fuel line was a matter of both filters (in the pump and before the carb) being in backwards . . .

*sigh*
1972 Eldorado convertible, 2001 Deville DHS (daughter), 1997 Eldorado ETC (and now my wife wants an Eldorado!)
