I just saw a "1978" eldorado convertible ?? on Craigs list. It does not look like a chop job but I am suspicious. please be aware, I have a 76 eldo which was supposedly the last year for a while. Always check the VIN to be sure of what you are getting

Right, there is no factory 78 Vert, all done in the aftermarket.

Conversions were being made by Coachbuilders the day after production stopped.     So many 77 and 78s were made into real convertibles.    But they will have Coupe VIN and body tag numbers.    I've got these photos of them in my archives.

Now if only they could cover the *engines* of a '78 to a '70-'72 . . .

I know that there is (at least) one in the Maloof collection here in town.  (Having an *identical* car already never seems to have stopped him, at least not if it was a '41 [I think about half of the roughly 100 Cadillacs in his collection are that year . . .])
