Hi. If anyone with a Flathead is interested in the correct double-wire hose clamps for the Upper (1.25") hoses and the Lower (2") Hose, please let me know.  I might have to purchase them in bulk, and it might also be an advantage in price compared to what's available, and it's not much.  Thanks,

Are these not what you want?

John,
Thanks for the heads up, but nobody carries the correct size for the 1 1/4" upper hoses on the Flathead, that need to be able to clamp down to the 1 5/8" OD. The first clamp you see listed is way too big for the application. I spoke to them years ago. Those Type "A" double-band clamps have to be exact, or they don't fit. Due to the style, there is a very small min.- max. range for each clamp. I'm trying to get a hold of a distributor for the manufacturer (Murray), but I'm getting the runaround. The correct clamps for that car are Murray #54 (upper) and #80 (lower). I appreciate your response and any help by others would be appreciated.

Bobby: Here is a listing on ebay which might solve your problem. They say to contact them with the OD of your hose for the proper size before ordering.

The outside diameter for my upper hose is 1 5/8". I think a Murray 1 5/8' clamp is the one I used on my 47. If you go on ebay and type in Murray double wire hose clamps I think you will find at least one and maybe two listings for 1 5/8" clamps.  Bill

They 1-1/4" hose is a difficult size, and I refuse to pay $10.00 per clamp. I will find them for us somehow. Working on it diligently…….

I would be interested in clamps as well.  I bought the restoration hardware clamps and am not happy with the fit.

To everyone interested….
Murray were "technically" the Manufacturer of the clamps that we're all looking for. We need a #54 for the upper hoses, and a #80 for the lower hose on our Flatheads.  After chasing my tail amongst many Distributors AND Murray, someone finally had the decency to return my phone call, most likely sensing the desperation and/or frustration in my messages. It's Bad news as usual, but at least I have the scoop. They are no longer made and have not been made for years, the obvious reasons being there is no demand for them in any other market. He told me that they were specifically tooled for the automotive and aftermarket industry. If they were to do a run, it would be custom and most likely a 1000 piece order for it to be worth their while. I could take 8, so the question is how the hell can I get rid of the other 992 Clamps……. ::)

Bobby, what do you expect the per piece price would be on a 1000 run?

Thanks,

Don,
I wouldn't be that concerned with the price, but more so with getting rid of them. How much of a market would there be for that specific clamp? One of our vendors had a run of bearings done for the steering boxes. He told me he had a handful left, it took almost 20 years to get rid of them, and he only started recouping some money near the end. He said it just wasn't worth the time and effort. All good intentions, I'm sure……I can throw it at them if you want.

Hey Bobby,
Do you know how many years this wire clamp was used, I don't see many restored cars with them. Or, have I not been paying attention?
Thanks,
Don
