This is just a FYI that I was told by the folks than rebuilt my Carter WCFB. I was having some problems with how my '53 was running, (turned out it wasn't the carb) and called the people that had rebuilt the carter carb. He told me, after I removed it from the engine, to look at the 2 front barrels and find 2 little rectangular slots in the walls. Sure enough they're there. He said to adjust the idle screw so that the 'butterfly' valve started covering up the slots, so that the slots turned into a square. Once they were square, it is set as it came from the factory. Now, like I said, I had more problems than just the carb, but with that adjustment along with several others, the 'ole girl now runs like a new one.  :) Again, don't shoot the messenger, just passing along what appears to be some pretty good information.
