In my search for an upholsterer I found they often subcontract headliners to firms with patterns in stock. Faster and better way to do it I assume.

Does anybody know of a shop that may have patterns for 1941 and 1942 Cadillac 67 series?? It would be helpful and probably better and cheaper than reinventing the wheel so to speak.

Can't imagine why they would need to sub-contract that job out Gary. I have remade numerous headliners. Easy to work out using the old one as pattern or following where the steel bows go in the car. One of my favorite jobs on trimming. Good luck with your search though.

Gary,

I used Acme Auto Headlining, Long Beach CA, 562-437-0061. I dealt with Robert Westmoreland. Fast service, correct material and configuration, beautiful fit.

Steve,  Thanks for response but the upholsterer I am probably going to use feels it is better item to subcontract for best fit and saving labor.  I have upholstered quite a few household furnishing and a bit of automobile  but will be subcontracting this one.  A matter of time vs money.  At my age I do not want to spend a major part of the winter at a sewing machine. I recall that at my limited skills I need a lot of time to do it right!

Ralph, Thanks for the information and Acme headliners claim to have pattern for 1942-67 series. I will give that information to upholsterer and let them do it at what they figure is the best way.
