My 38 La Salle has no gaskets under the trunk lid hinges and I suspect water is getting in there. Assuming there should be some, where do I get them? If they are really really expensive, what material should I use to make some? Driveability that I can afford takes precedence over accuracy of the restoration. Has anyone used EPDM (rubber roof) material for such? I used it on a trailer cover moons ago, worked very nicely, and the stuff is easy to work with.

Rhino, you must have either a 2 or 4 door, as my 38 5027 coupe trunk hinges are hidden.
If you have hignes on the out-side, yes, you need a rubber gasket under the hinges.
Try Lynn Steele Rubber Products.
He has a Catalog on the web.
Also, the plant is in Denver, NC
Good Luck, Jim
