Other than Cadillacs, Imperials were the only other car that I really liked from age 12 to now.  I have never had a desire for any other luxury car.  I never really cared for Lincolns, but I love those Cadillacs and Imperials, especially 1956 thru 1966.

Well I just wanted to mention about what gene said about his 78 trans am, life on the west coast.
It's funny to here people say "rust free" because it was in California, those are people not from the west coast. Fact is that the west coast can be one of the worst places for cars............IMO. Just going off of my cars, and maybe it's because I am so close to the water? I don't know. Newer cars don't seam to be as much affect on.

The salt air from being on the west coast due to the breeze coming from ocean direction cars get rust in hard to get to places because of this. It's like the salted roads but all over the car not just the bottom.

My cars that I want to list is,
78 Buick skylark.
66 mustang convertible( which from living 3 blocks from the beach was getting rusty all over and inside)
Infinity SUV
Chevy balzer
Chevy 1500
Have had many cars but don't care to list, about another 20 of them
1955 Cadillac sedan series 62
1966 mustang convertible w/pony PAC, now in Sweden
2005 Cadillac deville

LenInLA

Just wondering - for people with multiple cars - where do you store them?

I live in a part of LA where the standard 4000 sq ft lot now goes for close to $2M; so hardly anyone has more than a 1.5 car garage.

Incidentally - one of the reason I didn't spend much on my new Cadillac - it'll have to live in my office parking garage.

David Greenburg

My experience with cars in California has been very different.  Having lived roughly half of my life on each coast, with stints in the midwest and the Rockies, there is no comparison with the rust in the east, or any other part of the country that has anything resembling a real winter.  I've lived in the SF Bay Area for nearly 25 years, within sight and a somewhat long walk of the bay, and rust is pretty much unheard of here.  If you keep a vehicle at a house on the beach, of course it will rust eventually, but in the normal course of living and driving around here, you virtually never see visible rust on cars, unlike the east and midwest. I moved here from the mid-Atlantic with a '59 Fleetwood that had a cosmetic restoration, but plenty of underbody rust if you looked.  But there was no noticeable change in that condition over the 22+ years I owned the car here.   And exhaust systems on daily drivers seem to last the life of the car.
