When getting a replacement battery, I measure the total interior dimensions of the battery "box" and go to the Battery Shop, and buy the largest one I can find that will fit.

Plus, these days, with the advancement of battery design, I also go for the best one that will last the longest, with the least maintenance.

Oh, that's right, I am not concerned about originality.

If you are not concerned about originality, I've heard the Optima AGM batteries get good reports.
And, not that it matters, these batteries tend to be smaller & lighter than the wet cell variety and they last a long time.

The problem with Optima batteries is that if it drains and requires a charge or jump, you need a special charger.  If you just jump an Optima with another car, say goodbye to that Optima very soon.  I would not use an Optima, they work great until someone uses the power accessories too much with car off and it needs to be jumped...and

Bruce's advise is the way I roll too.

My limited research shows that as a group 27 battery which is still somewhat common so you should not have any issues finding something that will fit correctly unless there was something unique about that model.

What I found says that is 12 x 6 3/4 x 9.   And was used by Cadillac 59-66.

The 34/78 that was the 70's-2000's one was 10 1/4 x 7 1/16 x 7 11/16.     That explains the 1/2 that the others mentioned and why many batteries come with what seems like a safety/stacking grid cover on them that is actually an adapter that snaps on the bottom to gain you that 1/2 of width and inch of height to make it a semi universal fit.   Optima is the only one where that adapter is almost always there because its what also holds the other adapter clamps and such they come with.   I think a lot of stores and people think its packing and throw them away.
