1957 Coupe de Ville Intake Manifold Gasket
« on: November 30, 2017, 03:32:27 PM »
At some point in the near future, I will probably have to pull the intake manifold, and, in my parts quest, I ran across this offering:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1949-1954-1955-1956-1957-1958-CADILLAC-INTAKE-MANIFOLD-GASKETS-331-365-V8-METAL/382217168725?epid=524988392&hash=item58fdeb2755:g:5zUAAOSwcLxYE8JW&vxp=mtr

There is plenty of information out there on the manifold's drawbacks, and this gasket (with the center ports blocked) might be a solution.

What I would like to know is if anyone out there has actually tried this setup. Are there downsides that I should know about?

Thanks for any info!

These are not bad but I like the ones made by Best Gaskets which are fiber (and are thicker) not metal and block off the cross over. Olson's gaskets also sells these.

After playing many games with search criteria, I finally found this thread:

After several dead-end search attempts I finally just typed in "365 intake manifold", and it came right up.

Also discovered that when a redundant item is posted, nobody will respond.

I have had good luck just welding up the crossover in the manifold instead of trying to block the ports.

The factory spacer for the carb keeps the gas from boiling over in my car and I get the crummy ETOH stuff in California.
