Anyone know how to repair the limousine trunk support/lifts?  They seem to have a catch that isn't catching when you lift the trunk.

It's a little spring inside that's broken.

There is a single strut on the right hand side of the trunk.  We removed it and I extended it...and voila! the catch popped out and held it in place. :o  So we put it back on with new hardware and the trunk supports itself with the strut.  It had not been extended far enough up to engage the catch.  We will add a cotter pin to secure it for when one is working in the trunk or leaving it opened for extended periods.

Sometimes you have to pull these things apart and learn how they work!  ;)

Of note, the "baseball bat" my Dad used to hold the hood and trunk up turned out to be an antique Chris Craft mahogany flagstaff.  Now that I can retire it from "car duty" I'll save it for my Chris Craft-of-the-future. 8)....or mount it on the transom of this huge car with a Yacht Ensign!!! (Kidding guys!)
