Looking to buy the curved glass for the center section on the dash for mu 1939 LaSalle coupe (15.5 in by 1.5 in).  I have a spare glass for the speedo but it is not long enough.

Hi Herman   I'm looking for all three pieces for my 1939 Cadillac. I would be interested in your spare  glass if the price is reasonable.   Regards, Virgil Lysgaard. CLC member.

Hi, I  may have some center sections that I made from 1/8 inch plate window glass. I bought a kiln and made a mold but there are some imperfections in the glass from the sand from the clay mold.  I cut the glass a little too wide to compensate for the curvature so it would have to be ground down a fraction. You would have to put some tiny washers behind the 2 studs on the backing plate to prevent cracking. I will check and see if I still have them.

Hi Virgil,

I am in process of getting quotes from glass benders, I will ask for a price on all three pieces as well.  So far one supplier was $425 which was too steep for just one piece of glass.  I have to find the safe place I put the speedo glass but would part with it for $100.  But I would ask you to wait till I see what I come up with the glass benders out there.  Also, I have seen on this forum(and DIY Youtube)   the ability to take plexiglas and warm it over a piece of 4 inch pipe - this would be the least expensive route (about $24 for a 12 x 24 inch piece - enough for all three pieces) but if you are like me you still want real glass.

Best Regards,

hi how handy are, you  amazon has 4" x 24" glass cylinder vases 6 pack for $65. if you can get a glass shop to cut one down  that might work you'd have a lot of spares .bos

That has the possibility of being brilliant.  Looking at glass bottle cutters and DIY method.  A 4" diameter straight vase could work assuming its close to 1/8" thickness.  Many  thanks.  I'll let you know if it works.
