QQ: Does anyone know if a 1965 Deville Dash mount in a 1967 Deville as a strait swap and no cutting?  I really dig the 65 dash and if I could find a green one and the swap is mostly pull and replace; I would consider it.

I don't know if they will interchange, but in the long run, for the benefits received compared to the work involved, it would be easier to simply buy a 1965 Cadillac and leave the '67 alone. Then, if you need a "65 dash fix," just take it out for a spin.

For one thing, GM might not cooperate and make the same wires the same color to hook them back up. (I.E, the clock might have a purple wire for the main lead in one car and a pink one in the other.)

Not a chance.

The 1967 Cadillac body is different.  A very talented customizer might be able to make it work, but you would be into slight but very difficult modifications to the door panels as on passenger side especially on 65/66 they can of use a wrap around look on lower section.  Another issue is the steering column - 1967 was first year of larger diameter collapsible safety column - Federal Safety Law.  The 65/66 dash will not fit around it, and the 1967 steering column and wheel would not look right with a 65/66 dash, so may have to change the column out to a less safe 65/66 one too.

Then you also run the limiting your options in the future as a 1967 Cadillac with a 1965/66 dash will suffer diminished value to most perspective purchasers.  This is of course an unlikely factor in your decisions, but it is there nonetheless.

I favor the dash of the 65/66 too.

I'm pretty sure that 1967 was also the first year of the "printed circuit" for all instruments and dash lights, etc. A 65 dash will be more difficult to wire up in a 67 because of this.

Thanks for all the feedback.  I will now stand down on "that" change.  I had figured with 65-70 chassis being similar, the dash might be as well.  But that one would be a big design change.

Thanks to all that replied :)

In fact, the printed circuits were already used for the 1958 models, except the Brougham which still had the 1957 das cluster.
