Steering wheels interchangability. 70s-80s

The other day, someone was asking about interchangability of steering wheels. Since so many of the 1970s-1980s cars have the wood insert that goes bad, and the plastic wheels crack, it might be nice to have posted the correct facts of just what wheels will interchange from year to year. There are enough leather wheels in yards that can be salvaged...I have my eye on a couple locally...that definite interchange of years would be helpful to have. (Of course, along with pigs flying to the moon, there might be some regular plastic wheels that are good as well.)  Can someone with a Master Parts Book get the facts to us? I might assume that for instance, all T and T wheels from 77-92 for the RWD cars might interchange.
