Gentlemen,

It's nice to know that members are making use of that database. Unfortunately gray broadcloth is incorrect. I'm the author of the database and found the error when Gary posted the same question in another thread......I answered incorrectly until I checked the information against the upholstery selection book. The database was at the limit of my typing skills and there are errors which members have been kind enough to point out. That page has been corrected but not posted on line yet. My apologies.

Code 61 is Lt Gray wool broadcloth. Code 61A is Lt gray Mojave Cloth which is a similar but  smoother monochromatic synthetic weave material. Wool broadcloth has more nap finish and appears a bit more plush.

I actually didn't use the database but the 57 specification manual published in October 56. 61A is not listed here. Was it added later like the copper and green paisley interiors on the Seville?

The car is a late production at 18043/24000 so I guess that could corroborate.

It may have.  Another addition was black and silver Corinthian cloth with white leather as a deville interior offering.  It would have been given a code in the 40's for the deville series.

I've seen quite a few devilles outfitted this way.  They've all had "SO" on the body plate although it was a standard 60 Special interior offering.

Of all the '57 60 Specials I've seen over the past 25 years, 2 have had all cloth interiors.  I have never seen one with all wool broadcloth so this is indeed a rare car.

Henning,

Good explanation…..didn’t think about that. I used the MPL for many of the tables and it includes codes 61A as well as 55 & 56, the green and copper Eldorado paisley cloths. My book is “Revised July 1, 1957” so it’s after the fact. Given that it’s loose leaf there’s no telling when the additions/changes were made. My Upholstery Selector has samples of the two Eldorado materials but only a cardboard insert, no fabric, for 61A.

Walter, you raise an interesting point about the white leather and black Corinthian Cloth. I had a black Fleetwood with that interior and remember them being rather common. However the factory press release pack has a white Fleetwood with the B&W interior and those pictures were taken before the model introduction.

Do either of you have any idea when these additions were introduced?

Really not sure when these additions or changes took place.  About mid year, they also introduced a different Dusty Rose paint code.  Apparently the original formula was fading or checking so they redid it.
