I bypassed my leaky heater core and now that I'm getting ready to fix  it I've lost track of which hose goes to which side of the water pump. Can any of you 59-60 guys help me out?

Dave they should be two different ID's to match the pipe sizes at the core and at the pump.

Thanks, Jeff. I think the hoses on the car are the same size,  but that may be due to previous incompetent work.  If the fittings are different sizes, that should solve the problem, and perhaps a leak.,

Hi,

The larger hose is on the passenger side of the water pump and the smaller hose is on the driver side of the water pump.

If they're like 61/62, one should be 5/8" ID and the other 3/4" ID

Thanks, all.  Putting on the correct (different sized) hoses makes it pretty clear what goes where.

Check the 1959 manual, it show pics of the hoses and where they go page 14-28

If you need photos let me know.  One of the hoses goes under the manifold from front to back.

I looked in the manual but missed that picture.  On my car, as well as my '59, both hoses run under the manifold.  My back has been acting up and I decided I didn't want to fight the battle of pulling the dash in order to get to the heater core, so I took it to my professional guru, an old school mechanic, who was able to remove the heater core without pulling the dash.  Despite the shop manual, apparently you can get to the core after removing the glove box and glove box door.
